YBH Youth's statement about bicommunal activity

Thinking that the anti-democratic and negative practices are not sufficient in northern Cyprus, the ruling powers have been organizing a semi-legal organization and some publications in order to wage attacks against democratic and progressive people.

One of the members of the Executive Committee of YBH Youth has also been made a direct target. Once again we strongly denounce such attacks.

We refuse to go down to the level of the attackers and discuss anything with them. Their statements and so-called insulting “news” published in their newspapers are based on the police intelligence reports which show their miserable situation.

It is not possible to criticize those who organize such attacks with disregard to their position and to where they get their payment from. The attacks, insults and threats against progressives are organized by those who have been dismissed from tens of organizations and are the managers of a semi-legal organization where it is not clear who is consulting whom and why. YBH Youth will not give up its ideas or its struggle due to the rattle created by a couple of persons who are the servants of the regime in the north's leadership and a few old persons around them.

We call on the press and media organizations to take a stand against the insults of those who take their incentives from the Palace and so called donations from the casinos. We underline that those who do not take a stand now, will not have the right to say anything due to the developments deriving from such attacks.

We are going through a process where all those who call themselves democratic, progressive and patriot must take a stand  against  the cover being prepared for attacks against progressives, intelligentsia, journalists and youth, using the tension the ruling powers are trying to create.

We stress that those who do not choose their side and stay silent will carry the historical responsibility for all such present and future attacks. Instead of statements after attacks, we call on all Cypriots to take a stand now, for a humanistic and honorable life.

We would like to stress once again that YBH Youth will make all possible contribution for the continuation of bi-communal activities since YBH Youth believes that the future of our common homeland Cyprus can be created by those who live under the same sky.

YBH Youth is determined to continue its struggle against the regime and its work towards a federal solution despite all sorts of attacks.

And it should not be forgotten that the shadow of the dwarfs shouting in the dark seem long...
